PET is one of the few materials that can be recycled as well as upcycled. By raising properties through the use of SSP, reclaimed bottles can be melt filtered and treated to achieve higher intrinsic viscosity (iv), or sufficient levels of iv to return to use in water bottles as well as carbonated beverages.
By supercleaning, recycled materials can be used directly in contact with food. Where degradation causes yellowing we have solutions to correct the colour. For production of pellets, film and sheet we can offer complete solutions as well as sub-systems to dry, superclean and sort flakes ,and to measure iv, colour, thickness and surface quality.
PET has an important economic advantage: it can be "upcycled". What comes out of the recycling process can be a better quality PET than what went in. In order for R-PET to meet the high quality standards required by applications such as beverage bottles or strapping bands, it undergoes solid state polycondensation.
This process not only increases the intrinsic viscosity (IV), it also decontaminates the material so effectively that it is suitable for direct food contact applications.
By adding SSP reactors, the number of which will depend on the requirements of the application, the machine concept meets even the most stringent demands as to IV and food contact.
Food grade PCR PET produced with viscotec decontamination equipment exceeds the requirements of national and multinational food authorities. Long term material monitoring shows no difference between R-PET decontaminated by viscotec and virgin material.
REPI liquid colourants and additives. Anti-yellow for pellets and sheet production to correct effects of degradation products. Tints and colours in sheet with quick colour changes.
Viscotec in line iv measurement. iVON gives instant iv readings without material losses. Can be retrofitted to all PET lines
Colorlite in-line control of colour. Measures the slightest deviation even when not visible to the human eye
